A group of friends attempted to bring a more sophisticated dining experience to their local McDonald’s, all for the enjoyment of Twitter.
“We both just thought it would be hilarious to bring formal gear to such an informal place, and it developed from there,” one of the young men told HuffPo UK.
“Some of the staff found it funny, but others clearly did not,” he Tweeted.
One not-amused employee at the eatery told them they had to leave, and the friend who snapped the photos says he was “banned.” But the gents say they were able to stay thanks to supportive customers and employees who didn’t seem terribly upset about the candlelit scene.
A rep for the fast food chain confirmed to HuffPo UK that is aware of the situation and all but confirms that the concern was over the brought-from-home cutlery.
“We are happy to provide plastic cutlery to those customers who request it,” says the rep. “We ask that any items brought in by customers, such as cups or plates, are used responsibly and taken away with them after use.”
The suddenly popular pranksters say they may very well try to fancy-up another fast food joint, “however not in the same place. For it to remain funny we would need variety in venue.”
