Authorities have found and arrested the person who left a dead newborn in the ladies’ room trash in a Kentucky Kohl’s store two weeks ago. She’s a 29-year-old store employee, who has been charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. The baby’s cause of death still hasn’t been determined, but it was full term and there was no obvious cause.

“We believe the baby was born alive and would be alive today if she provided basic care,” a police officer explained during a press conference. The woman reportedly disappeared into the bathroom during work, then went home for a few hours. A co-worker found the infant while emptying the trash.

Controversially, Kohl’s kept the store open to shoppers but closed off the bathroom for homicide investigators after the body was found. Shoppers were horrified to learn from TV reporters the real reason why police were present and had shut down the rest room.
