eBay Pulls Craze Sports Supplement Amid Concerns Of Amphetamine-Like Ingredients

eBay no longer crazy for Craze.

eBay no longer crazy for Craze.

Following in the footsteps of Walmart.com and Bodybuilding.com, eBay has announced it will stop selling a popular sports supplement accused of containing amphetamine-like compounds. This, after an investigation revealed some dark spots in the past of one of Driven Sports’ executives’ pasts, including a criminal conviction, a pending federal charge and repeated sales of allegedly risky products over the years.

Craze was dubbed the 2012 New Supplement of the Year by Bodybuilding.com for its powers as a pre-workout powder meant to give users energy and focus, but USA Today says it found in an investigation that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, a government-affiliated lab in Sweden and industry competitors found the presence of stuff very similar to amphetamines. As such, eBay is now yanking the popular product.

“eBay is in the process of removing all listings as they are in violation of our policies. This ban reflects eBay’s commitment to creating a trusted and safe marketplace,” a spokeswoman said, citing “recent findings” regarding amphetamines.

Drive Sports makes the product, and maintains that it’s clean. USA Today’s July 25 investigative report pointed to the company’s vice president and his allegedly spotty history in the industry.

He and his company haven’t commented on eBay’s decision to pull Craze.
