EA: SimCity Is Coming To Mac (For Real, This Time) Aug. 29

Here we go again...

Here we go again…

Isn’t it funny how a company like Electronic Arts (our Worst Company In America for two years running, don’t forget!) can say one thing and then do another? Like when it said the Mac version of the newest SimCity would be released on June 11. It wasn’t, but now the company says the long-delayed game will finally arrive in a digital-only version on Aug. 29.

I suppose it’s better to be late and functioning, without servers crashing, slow game loads and all the other snafus that plagued the PC version’s release earlier this year, but I still wouldn’t hold my breath for the Mac release to be on time or without troubles.

Back when the game’s release was delayed in early June, a senior producer said (via Polygon) there were still kinks that needed to be worked out:

“We have made this tough decision because we do not believe [the Mac version] is ready for prime time yet. We want to ensure the Mac is a great experience for our players and that is why we are taking more time.”

After two months, its to be hoped that the game will now be ready. Mac players will play in the same world as their PC pals and can use either platform as well. Anyone with a SimCity for Windows copy will receive an automatic entitlement to download the Mac version as well through Origin.
