Just about everyone knows that the fresh-cooked egg on an Egg McMuffin is superior to the squarish, folded yellow thing you find on other breakfast items under the Golden Arches. But not everyone knows that you don’t have to take the lesser egg option just because you’re not going the McMuffin route.

Serious Eats’ J. Kenzie Lopez recently explained how he discovered that he could get his beloved Bacon Egg & Cheese Biscuit from McDonald’s but with the McMuffin egg instead of the one that usually accompanies the biscuits sandwiches there.

“It’s pre-cooked, reheated, rubbery, oddly flavored, not completely unpleasant, but definitely not egg-like,” he writes of that yellow thing they call an egg.

He says that all one has to do to get a fresh-cooked egg on their biscuit to request a “round egg” substitution. After all, it’s not like they aren’t cooking these things up for McMuffin customers anyway.

So let’s add the “round egg” to the growing catalog of secret and semi-secret menu items at fast food joints.
