Carnival announced today that the Triumph won’t be heading back out to sea again until June 3, which means the cancellation of 10 voyages, on top of the dozen or so that had already been canceled.
For those who avoided all forms of news in February, a fire on the Triumph left the ship floating 150 miles off shore. The poor and increasingly unsanitary conditions on board led to it being dubbed the “poop cruise,” which is hilarious to anyone familiar with Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, but not so hilarious to the passengers on the ship.
“We sincerely regret canceling these cruises and disrupting our guests’ vacation plans,” Gerry Cahill, Carnival Cruise Lines’ president and CEO, stated in a press release. “We are fully committed to applying the recommendations stemming from our fleetwide review and to make whatever investments are needed despite the difficult decision to impact people’s vacations.”
Carnival has also canceled a handful of voyages on its Sunshine ship, as that undergoes a full renovation that won’t be completed until May 5.
Guests on affected voyages may contact their travel agent or call 1-800-CARNIVAL for assistance.
And they will also be able to vote for Carnival as it makes its debut in this year’s Worst Company In America tournament.
