Sears Takes Issue With Best Buy’s Same-Day In-Store Pickup Claim

Sears does allow customers to order online and pick up in-store the same day.

When we recently spoke with a Best Buy executive about what could set it apart from its competitors, he talked about the ability to order online and pick up in-store the same day, saying “You can’t do that from anybody else.” The folks at Sears would like to disagree.

“Sears was not only among the very first retailers to offer the synergy between online and stores, we offer a five minute guarantee to customers and if they don’t have their order within five minutes, they get $5,” a rep for Sears tells Consumerist. “In fact, they don’t even need to leave their car — customers can get curbside pickup by texting the store when they arrive and an associate will bring their purchases right to their car. This is just one of the many conveniences we provide our customers and Members of our SHOP YOUR WAY Rewards program.”

We should point out that we have heard more than a few grumbles from Sears customers of store employees gaming the 5-minute guarantee system by simply stopping the clock early.
