Is A “Quadriginoctuple Frap” The Priciest Starbucks Drink Ever Ordered Or A Scary Medical Procedure?

First of all, if you guessed “scary medical procedure,” we’re very happy to inform you that you are wrong and whew, because that would be terrifying to have your inside parts topped with whipped cream. The so-called “quadriginoctuple frap” is what one guy is claiming as the most expensive drink ever ordered at Starbucks, checking in at $47.30 and sloshing around in a 52-ounce mug.

A man from Washington ordered up the drink and likely named it, and said this was no willy-nilly adventure — he put a lot of brain work into making his beverage vision come to life.

“I did a lot, a lot of research on it,” he told the New York Daily News. “Scouring all over YouTube and Google. I could not find anything really above 23 dollars.”

He brought his own 52-ounce mug (procured from Goodwill) to his local Starbucks and loosed his tongue verily upon the baristas to order: A venti 40-shot mocha Frappuccino soy mocha drizzle matcha powder protein powder caramel brulee topping with strawberry, two bananas, caramel drizzle Frappuccino chips and vanilla bean.

That wasn’t enough! No! The baristas tossed in eight extra shots just for funsies.

“I did it for fun, for a bit of entertainment and to see if it is at all possible,” the man said. “I was surprised how cool the Starbucks employees were. They seemed almost more interested in trying to set the record than I was.”

Indeed, they were so into it, they gave him the ginormous concoction gratis in honor of his birthday, which happened to be that day.

Without that birthday discount, the man claims it would’ve been the most expensive drink. But he’s not chugging that thing in one sitting, nope. He had to slug it over a few days because it was so sweet, it made his gums hurt. And it’s probably enough calories for a family of four to survive on for a couple days, we’re sure.

The previous record holder was reportedly a man who ordered up a $26.30 drink dubbed the “Java Chip Frappuccino” which came in a Trenta cup and included: 16 shots of espresso, a shot of soy milk, caramel flavoring, banana puree, strawberry puree, vanilla beans, Matcha powder, protein powder, and a drizzle of caramel and mocha.

Try saying that three times fast — or beating either one of those concoctions. If you do, let us know at tips@consumerist.com.
