Kmart, Where A $75 Pair Of Socks Now Only Costs 37 Cents

Someone at Kmart needs a refresher course on the difference between dollars and cents.

You know those pricey $75 socks you’ve been saving up to buy from Kmart? Consumerist reader Jon found them on sale for a huge discount at his local store.

According to this sign, those $75 socks — which is several times what you’d pay for socks at Bloomingdale’s or Macy’s — are now available at the low, low price of only 37 cents! That’s more than 99% off!!

Exclamation point!

But hold on for just a second here — the sign says “50% off regular price.” So it looks like you’re just getting some boring old 75-cent socks for half off. Or maybe there are multiple errors involved and you’re actually supposed to be getting a $7.50 pack of socks for $3.70?

We’re going to choose to believe that the “50% off” portion of the sign is an error and that there really is a Kmart out there selling a pair of magic $75 socks — which presumably transport the wearer to an alternate universe full of mystery, intrigue, and attractive, scantily clad people who ride rainbow-colored cheetahs — for only 37 cents.
