Mistake On McDonald’s Order Leads To Police Standoff

A simple fast food order turned into a prolonged police standoff in Wichita, KS, this morning.

According to reports, a couple went through the McDonald’s drive-thru around 7:30 a.m. today. After pulling away from the window, they realized their order was wrong.

But instead of pulling into the parking lot and going into the restaurant, they pulled back into the drive-thru and attempted to cut off another vehicle in line.

This led to a verbal altercation between people in both vehicles. The driver of the car with the mixed-up order allegedly threw a crowbar at the other car. Her passenger then got out of their vehicle with a shotgun and fired once. The Wichita Eagle reports that the shot was fired into the driver’s side door of the car they had cut off, while KAKE-TV says that the shot was fired into the air.

Regardless, it appears that no one in the other car was injured.

Police tracked the male suspect — the one with the shotgun — a house and began blocking off local streets while they await a search warrant.

UPDATE: According to this Tweet from KAKE reporter Jared Cerullo, around 3:00 p.m. ET, police finally arrested the suspect who had been holed up inside a house since this morning’s incident.
