It’s been more than two years since the government settled with Iovate, the makers of dietary supplements Accelis, nanoSLIM cold/allergy treatments Cold MD, Germ MD, or Allergy MD, over allegations that these products didn’t provide the benefits they promised. Now it’s time for affected consumers to get their refunds.

According to the FTC’s original complaint against Iovate, the company used photos of white coat-wearing, doctor-like human beings in ads for Cold MD, Germ MD and Allergy MD. These ads proclaimed that the products’ effectiveness in preventing colds, flus and hay fever was clinically proven. The FTC said these claims were “false and unsubstantiated.”

Meanwhile, Iovate had claimed that its Accelis and nanoSLIM products were clinically proven to cause weight loss in users and that consumers could “Lose 32 lbs. FAST” using nanoSLIM, or one to two pounds per week using Accelis. According to the FTC, these claims were deceptive.

So if you purchased any of these products between January 2006 and July 2010, you have until April 1, 2013, to apply for a refund by filing a claim form online or calling 1-877-576-9978 to request a paper claim form in the mail.

If you’ve already received a refund from the California class-action settlement involving Cold MD, you are not eligible to receive a second payment.
