“I got the bill, and I was like, why does the receipt say, ‘fat girls?'” says one of the diners.
They asked the waiter about it and he denied having anything to do with it. He pointed the finger at the mysterious “Jeff,” who had apparently left for the night.
When the trio took their complaint to the manager, his response was not exactly what they had hoped for.
“He had like a smirk on his face, like if it was funny, but he was trying not to laugh,” recalls one of the women.
At first the manager offered a 25% discount on their bill. The women were not thrilled with the offer.
“He was like, ‘Well, I can do 50 percent,’ and we were just like, are you serious?” the one customer says.
News 10 reports that this “Jeff” eventually admitted to management that he had entered the description into the system.
“I don’t think he understood completely because he was busy last night, but that’s just no excuse,” the bar manager explains, adding that the employee had been suspended pending further investigation but that it looked like this Jeff person would lose his job.
“I just want to tell them that we’re sincerely sorry for that,” said the manager, who was not working the night in question, “and that we’ll do everything in our power to make sure that this never happens to anyone ever again.”
This news comes shortly after a waitress at a New Jersey Applebee’s was on the receiving end of a rude receipt. In that case, the customer wrote “Stop eating, b*tch!” where they should have entered a tip amount.
