Denny’s Is Really Hoping You All Want To Chow Down On Hobbit Food

Even weirdos in wizard beards gotta eat.

Given the runaway success of the three Lord of the Rings films, marketers are banking that Peter Jackson’s return to Middle Earth with the first part of The Hobbit will be equally lucrative. Which is why you’ll soon be seeing an actual Hobbit tie-in menu at Denny’s.

According to Ad Age, there will be 11 items on the themed menu, “Hobbit Hole Breakfast,” “Frodo’s Pot Roast Skillet,” “Gandalf’s Gobble Melt” (which sounds like it could be X-rated) and the least imaginatively titled item ever, “Bilbo’s Berry Smoothie,” which is a berry smoothie.

There will apparently also be trading cards that come with your meal, further encouraging you to eat second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper at the restaurant until you’ve collected all the cards or gone bankrupt.

“We just felt with the two breakfasts that whole notion of comfort eating and comfort food” were a fit for Denny’s, a company exec said in a statement.
