Pizza Hut Realizes That Offering People Money To Ask Presidential Candidates About Favorite Pizza Topping Is Remarkably Stupid Idea

Not a good idea.

At this week’s town hall-style Presidential debate, at least one of the questions asked by an audience member will be superfluous and about a topic many people deem unimportant. Luckily, no one will be taking Pizza Hut up on its request to ask the candidates whether they prefer pepperoni or sausage, after the restaurant chain realized that might be just a remarkably dumb idea.

The chain had offered the option of either free pizza for life or $15,600 to the first person to ask the question at tomorrow’s debate.

But after being roundly slammed by, well… everyone, for being a waste of the candidates’ time and a mockery of the entire process, Pizza Hut has decided to rescind the offer.

Desperately trying to spin the goof, Pizza Hut is now just asking anyone online which meat they prefer on their pizzas, with one voter randomly chose to win the prize (take the cash).

“The anticipation and buzz around this question proves that this debate should be taken to the people,” said Pizza Hut’s chief marketing officer, presumably while working on his resume. “We’re no longer asking a few hundred attendees at the town hall presidential debate on Oct. 16 to pose the question, rather we’re bringing the question – Sausage or Pepperoni? – to millions of Americans.”
