Barnes & Noble Ushers Its Thinner Nooks Into The Ring To Duke It Out With Other Tablets

Barnes & Noble

If you don’t compete, you die. That’s what’s pushing retailers to give it their all to nudge Amazon and Apple from their spots atop the e-commerce and e-reader world, and basically anything else you can put an “e-” in front of. Today Barnes & Noble unveiled its newest Nook Tablets, both with HD to produce better video viewing.

There’s the 7-inch Nook Tablet HD ($199) and the 9-inch Nook TabletHD+ ($269), both priced at attractive price tags below $300. Quite convenient that these two tablets are spiffed up for video viewing, as B&N also announced this week that it’s planning its very own video service, notes the Washington Post. Ya don’t say! Great timing, indeed.

Pricing the tablets below its competitors might not be enough to convince consumers to reach for a Nook, as Amazon and Apple products both have a wider variety of content available through their proprietary systems.

Only time will tell – and with tablets arriving in stores in November (pre-orders have already started), we won’t have to wait long to see how they all match up. Fight! Fight! Fight!
