Kroger Recalls Spinach In 15 States Because No One Wants A Listeria Salad

It’s baaaack and this time it could be plaguing Kroger stores supply of spinach — our old foe Listeria has returned and is once again triggering a recall. Kroger is alerting customers in 15 states that its Fresh Selections Tender Spinach might be contaminated with Listeria.

The affected spinach was sold in 10-ounce packages and had a “best if used by” date of Sept. 16 with the UPC code of UPC, of 011110916495, so if you have any sitting around with that date return it to stores for a full refund or replacement. It has a

The product was sold in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska. It isn’t just Kroger itself that could have the problem spinach— the recall involves its Kroger, Jay C, Owen’s, Pay Less, Scott’s, Food 4 Less, Dillons, Baker’s and Gerbes stores in selected states.

NewStar Fresh Foods is a supplier out of California, and said that the recall was triggered by a single positive test result by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Better safe than sorry, right?

 So far no one has reported falling sick, but listeria can cause illness for women who are prgenant or anyone with a weakened immune system.
