Apparently Putting Hot Fudge On Bottom Of A McDonald's Sundae Instead Of Top Is A Punchable Offense

(McDonald's)

The way we see it, if there’s hot fudge involved with ice cream, it’s going to be tasty, regardless of where said chocolate is located within the dessert. But for one Tennessee man, after a McDonald’s employee had the audacity to add the hot fudge to the bottom of his $1 sundae instead of the top, getting it wrong is worth a punch in the face. A jury has ruled otherwise, however.

All the way back in February 2010, a Knoxville man ordered lunch and a hot fudge sundae, and was upset when he realized everything had gone horribly, horribly wrong.

“The food appeared to be right, but the dessert, it had chocolate on the bottom,” he told jurors. “The hot fudge should be on top. It freezes up when you get fudge on the bottom of it. I asked them to redo it.”

An assistant manager thinks the man was trying to save $0.10, which is the difference between the dollar menu’s plain sundae versus the fancy hot fudge kind, reports KnoxNews.com. The two men argued until the employee gave the customer his dollar back. He says he went to the door to make sure the customer was gone, at which point, the other man punched him in the face.

“I just wanted to make sure he actually (left),” he said. “I took two more steps out the door, and he hit me in the face.”

The customer claimed self-defense, an excuse that didn’t fly with the jury. He was convicted of misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct on Tuesday, and ordered to pay a fine of $1,050. He’ll face 364 days in jail at his sentencing in September, not to mention the bother of taking the case from misdemeanor court, to a grand jury and into criminal court. All because of some improperly placed hot fudge.
