Lenovo Won't Sell You A Computer, Won't Explain Why

Reader Devotee would like to purchase a computer from Lenovo. A laptop, specifically, for his son. But Lenovo doesn’t want to sell him a computer. After confirming the purchase and authorizing the purchase with his credit card company twice, the order just got canceled. Did they run out of stock of this particular computer? Was his purchase flagged for fraud? Did he just catch them on a bad day? They won’t say, and he can’t get in touch with anyone who can tell him. Update: Lenovo has successfully sold Devotee a computer.

Am the happy owner of a 4 year old lenovo think pad, which is an awesome laptop and still going strong.

My son needed a replacement laptop, and after a bit of research, i found a Lenovo Ideapad Z570. I ordered it mid May. A week later i was notified that delivery would be delayed.

Fast forward to friday May 31, when they confirmed that delivery would be set for the week of June 4. They even contacted my credit card company (twice) to get authorization.

Well Sunday afternoon i received an email from Lenovo stating:

We are contacting you regarding your recent Lenovo order, number xxx. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete your order, and it has now been cancelled. The product(s) will not be shipped and you will not be charged for this order.

Please contact Lenovo Sales Support at 866-428-4465 for more information.

There was no reason as to why after confirming delivery 2 days prior to the cancellation, and no attempt to reach out to me to offer a different product. I called the above number out of curiosity, but after 31 minutes waiting to speak to a rep, i just hung up.

I just feel that Lenovo has wasted my time and treated me in such a cavalier manner – i cant imagine treating my customers this way.Am the happy owner of a 4 year old lenovo think pad, which is an awesome laptop and still going strong.

Funny, usually Lenovo waits until after you’ve already purchased your computer to stop picking up the phone. Maybe they’re going back to old habits and functioning as an anti-capitalist prank like Sears.
