2.5 Internet Connections For Every Person On Earth By 2016

According to an annual survey by Cisco, the number of Internet connections will reach 18.9 billion by 2016, driven by a proliferation of smartphones, tablets and other handheld devices. That’s 2.5 for for each person on Earth.

The biggest markets for growth will be India, Brazil and South Africa, according to the report.

Just how big will internet traffic be? According to a spokesperson from Cisco, we’ll be measuring it in zettabytes. (1 trillion gigabytes.)

We decided to go with a Geth joke for this post rather than the usual Skynet reference, in honor of EA’s WCIA ’12 championship.

Keelah se’lai.
