If you love the simple joy of brewing up your own cup of hot coffee at home in the morning, be careful — more than a million Tassimo single-cup brewers have been recalled after the Consumer Product Safety Commission says they’re spraying hot liquid, coffee grounds or tea leaves onto people.

The CPSC says they’ve gotten more than 140 reports of the brewers hitting people with coffee, including 37 cases of second-degree burns, says the Associated Press (via the Washington Post). The problem seems to come from the “T-disc” piece of the the coffee maker, which holds the coffee or tea. It can burst while brewing. The CPSC has also announced the recall of 4 million packages of those Tassimo espresso T-discs.

The total recalled brewers comes to 835,000 coffee makers in the United States, and another 900,000 in Canada. The coffee machines involved are made by California-based BSH Home Appliances Corp., that carry the Bosch and Tassimo Professional brand names. The packages of Tassimo espresso being recalled are manufactured by Kraft Foods Global Inc., in Illinois.
