A note on TV buying:
Now is probably the best time to get a discounted TV, as stores clear out last year’s models and excess Christmas / Super Bowl inventory. There’s also great deals to be had on returned TV sets that were “borrowed” for the game and returned. There’s also some floor displays to be had, but be cautious: they’ve been running the enire time the store is open for the past year. I wouldn’t buy a floor display plasma TV, but an LED or LCD, yes, if it’s in good shape with full warranty
Your best finds will be at the big box retailers and Sam’s / Costco clubs.
Examples at Walmart yesterday: Brand name 32″ NIB LCD, $198, NIB Sanyo 50″ 720p Plasma $499.

It’s out of stock at Best Buy.
Stay the hell away from plasma TVs. That is all.
What’s your beef with plasma? My plasma has been working fine for years now and has a better picture than most of the LCD or “LED” sets available today.
Note that most sets being marketed as LED are actually LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) sets with LED backlighting. True LED (Light Emitting Diode) sets where actual LEDs make up the pixels are the latest technology, expensive and rare. These look as good as plasma and will probably overtake LCD sets in the years ahead.
