A Simple Way To Fix A Jammed PlayStation 3 Disc Drive

Devices with internal disc drives that suck and spit out your circular entertainment are fantastic until someone (let’s call her 2-year-old Emma) comes along and renders it (let’s call it a PS3) useless by stuffing it with multiple discs. No matter how much you curse at the device or pound on the eject button, the discs will stay stuck until you either send the console in for repair or work some magic.

Thankfully, a member of the PlayStation Community solved the problem back in 2007. The deceptively simple fix goes like this:

Step 1: While leaving the machine powered on, point the disc drive down. Now gravity is on your team!

Step 2: Assuming your entire DVD collection hasn’t already been shoved into the PS3, grab an extra disc and jiggle it into the opening as you press the eject button intermittently.

Step 3: Wipe the nervous sweat off your brow as all three Yo Gabba Gabba discs take turns tumbling out of your console.

Step 4 (optional): Grin triumphantly at Emma, gloating over foiling her latest attempt to destroy your life.
