Olive Garden & Red Lobster To Trim Fat & Cut Sodium By 10%

Olive Garden is always pushing the “when you’re here, you’re family” slogan, so like any good family member should, they want you eating less fat and sodium.

Darden Restaurants which owns the Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse chains, among others, announced today that it plans to reduce the amount of sodium and fat in its menu offerings by 10% over the course of the next five years, with the long-term goal of a 20% reduction over the next ten years.

“Our team of culinary experts will ensure that we continue to serve great-tasting foods and our guests will continue to enjoy the dishes they know and love,” the Darden CEO explained earlier today.

Darden announced it will also change its kids menu items to make vegetables the default side dish. And the youngsters would also be served low-fat milk unless their parents specifically order soda for them.
