Worst Ad In America Nominations Period Extended!

The nomination period for this year’s Worst Ad In America Awards was supposed to have ended last Friday, and even though you’ve nominated hundreds of bad ads, we’ve decided to extend the nomination period through the end of this week in order to flesh out some of the possible new categories.

To be more precise, one or more of the following reader-suggested categories is likely to be added to this year’s ballot, and we want to make sure these categories get proper consideration.

So, while you may still nominate generally awful ads from the last 12 months, here are some categories to keep in mind over the next few days:

*MOST MISLEADING AD
*WORST USE OF AN EXISTING SONG IN AN AD
*MOST BIZARRE DRUG SIDE EFFECTS
*ADVERTISING TREND THAT NEEDS TO STOP NOW

As always, submit your nominations in the comments or by writing tips@consumerist.com with “WAIA2012″ in the subject line. Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 9 to be considered.
