Target Expands Step Stool Recall To Include 314,00 More Units

Earlier this month, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Target announced a voluntary recall of 206,000 of their wooden step stools. They’re now adding an additional 341,000 units to that recall, citing a potential fall hazard as stools may fall apart when weight is applied on them.

The Step Stool With Storage is the name of the stool, as seen in the picture above, sold between 2007 and 2010 depending on the model. Target has received 27 reports of stools breaking or collapsing, reports the CPSC, as well as various injuries after a fall.

Description: The wooden step stool has two steps and comes in various colors, including natural, natural and red, white, pink, blue and honey. The Circo step stool has a lid on the bottom step that lifts to provide storage. The Do Your Room (DYR) step stool has a lid on the top step that lifts to provide storage. The step stools measure approximately 13″ H x 13 5/8″ W x 14 1/8″ D. The Circo brand name or DYR brand name and UPC numbers are printed on a label found underneath the step stool.

To check if your Target step stool is affected, check out the alert at the CPSC by clicking here. Immediately discontinue using the stool and return to your local Target for a full refund.
