Radio Flyer Recalls 165,000 Scoot 'N Zoom Riding Toys

The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Radio Flyer in Chicago announced the recall of 165,000 Scoot ‘n Zoom riding toys today because the red plastic toy can tip over while being ridden and that is apparently not the original point of the toy.

Radio Flyer says it has received 10 reports of tip overs, including six reports of injuries — three in which rider’s teeth were loosened or knocked out and three with cuts to the rider’s chin which required stitches.

The recall involves Scoot ‘n Zoom toys, model number 711, sold for about $20 at Walmart and other retailers such as Amazon.com and Target.com from August 2010 to August 2011. Model number 711B Scoot ‘n Zoom toys with a yellow UPC sticker are not affected by this recall. (See image below for help in identifying the Scoot ‘n Zoom models.)

Consumers are urged to take the recalled riding toys away from children and contact Radio Flyer (toll-free: 800-621-7613, http://www.radioflyer.com) to receive a refund or a replacement.
