Septuagenarian Walmart Greeter Chases Down Bike-Riding Shoplifter

Here’s a lesson to all would-be Walmart shoplifters out there. Just because that greeter is above the standard retirement age and looks like a kindly old grandpa, doesn’t mean he can’t chase you down — even if you’re trying to escape on a stolen bike.

According to local news reports, a 22-year-old man was trying to exit the Walmart with a bike he hadn’t paid for. When the greeter asked to see his receipt, the man hopped on the bike and attempted to speed away.

But he didn’t get far.

The greeter, in his 70s, gave chase and grabbed the bike-riding bandit by the shirt. He was dragged into the parking lot, where he says he blacked out when his head hit the ground. He was taken to the hospital and treated for a cut on his head.

But his efforts were not in vain. The would-be thief — who we think bears a resemblance to shape-shifting scamp Tommy Mickens on HBO’s True Blood — was caught and admitted to taking the bike, though he denies knocking the greeter to the ground.
