BlackBerry Maker Will Cut 2,000 Jobs

In a cost-cutting move connected to the BlackBerry’s inability to keep pace with smartphone competitors in the United States, BlackBerry maker Research in Motion revealed plans to slash its workforce by 10 percent, losing 2,000 jobs.

The AP reports sales are still growing overseas, but the company has been smoked by Apple and Android stateside. The iPad-chasing PlayBook tablet hasn’t sold as well as the company hoped, and a delay in developing next-generation BlackBerrys hasn’t helped.

If you’ve used a BlackBerry and moved on, when did you switch to another phone and why?
