iPhone Falls Out Of Skydiver's Pocket, Still Works

If iPhones were skydivers, they wouldn’t need parachutes. That appears to be true after an iPhone 4 slipped out of a Minnesota skydiver’s pocket during a 13,500-foot jump and survived the impact in working order.

CNN reports the phone landed on top of a building a half mile away from where the owner landed. The glass on the screen was shattered, but the phone still makes calls. The man tracked down the device using a GPS tracking app, then called the phone and was surprised to see the call go through.

A tech editor from Consumerist-affiliated Consumer Reports jokes in the story that dropping an iPhone 4 from a plane is a proven method for fixing its antenna problem.
