Plaintiffs have dropped their lawsuit against CBS Interactive, the parent company of CNET, that alleged the company helped others infringe on copyrights and profited from LimeWire downloads in 2008.

Wired reports the suit, which was dropped Monday, is not necessarily dead. An attorney who represents one of the plaintiffs wrote that he would re-file the case to represent more plaintiffs and “many thousands” of copyrighted works that CNET allegedly helped others download illegally via Download.com. The dropped suit produced only six obscure titles that suffered alleged copyright violation, including five songs that don’t yet have U.S. copyright protection.
