2011 Cadillac SRX Recalled For Side Airbags

More than 47,000 2011 Cadillac SRX cross-over vehicles are being recalled, according to General Motors and the U. S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The problem: Passenger-side side airbags might not deploy during a collision.

According to the NHTSA, the Cadillac SRX is equipped with sensors that automatically turn off the side airbags if the system doesn’t detect a front seat passenger. However, without the side airbag protection, rear passengers may suffer injuries during collisions.

GM will begin to notify affected Cadillac SRX owners next week, instructing them to bring their vehicles in to dealerships. Mechanics will reprogram the airbag modules for free.

For more information, Cadillac SRX owners can contact GM by phone (866-982-2339) or online (www.gmownercenter.com) or visit the NHTSA’s Safer Cars website: http://www.SaferCar.gov.
