Would You Trust Comcast With Your Home Security?

Obviously quite unsatisfied with consistently being rated at the bottom of the barrel for providing cable, phone and internet service, Comcast has decided to show it can excel at being inept in new and exciting fields by launching Comcast Xfinity Home Security service in handful of markets.

From GigaOm:

The Comcast Xfinity Home Security service offers traditional home security components with 24/7 monitoring as well as the ability to adjust digital thermostats, turn lights on or off and watch secure live streaming video from wireless cameras while away from home. So there’s a security and an energy savings component here, one that’s likely easier than the set up that Kevin rigged up for himself a few months back.

The service starts at $39.95/month. Kabletown has been testing it in Houston for about a year and it now being rolled out in Philadelphia, Portland, OR, Jacksonville and Sarasota/Naples, FL, Nashville and Chattanooga, TN, with more cities to come.
