Phoenix-Area Intel Plant Explosion Sends 4 To Hospital

Since the high-tech manufacturing industry deals with a bunch of caustic chemicals, it’s a wonder we don’t hear of more accidents such as an explosion that occurred Tuesday at a Chandler, Ariz. Intel plant, hospitalizing four workers, one who suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the company is investigating the incident, which happened in a room that processes chemicals used to produce semiconductors, such as hydrochloric and sulfuric acids. Intel hasn’t released the cause just yet, but an executive says he’s sure “there was no damage or release of chemicals to the community.”

What’s the most destructive workplace accident you ever witnessed?
