Nintendo's US Servers Hacked, Says No User Info Was Compromised

Following in Sony’s unfortunate footsteps, Nintendo announced that their US servers were hacked Sunday, but they say no personal or company information was lost.

ABC News cites company spokesman Ken Toyoda, who announced that the server of an affiliate of Nintendo Co.’s U.S. unit was accessed unlawfully a few weeks ago.

“There were no third-party victims,” Toyoda said. “But it is a fact there was some kind of possible hacking attack.”

Sony hasn’t been so lucky, as more than 100 million users’ personal information was believed to have been stolen in April.

A group called Lulz Security has claimed responsibility for the hack attack against Sony, and is now also saying they did the Nintendo hack for fun.

“We’re not targeting Nintendo,” the group said in a message posted to Twitter over the weekend. “We like the N64 (gaming console) too much — we sincerely hope Nintendo plugs the gap.”
