Meet The Lactose Intolerant Dairy Princess

A potential Washington State Dairy Ambassador does not have the stomach for the product she endorses. Lucky for her, the rigid requirements for the position do not include lactose tolerance.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports the milk-challenged individual is a high school senior who is currently a county ambassador but vying for a state position, which requires the ambassador be single, have worked on a dairy farm or shown dairy cows for a FFA or 4-H and be free of piercings and tattoos.

The young woman laughs off the contradiction, telling the paper people “think it’s pretty funny. I’m kind of a joke around my friends.”

Despite her need to take pills with any dairy products, she’s a hardcore member of the industry, living on a dairy farm that’s been in her family for 150 years. Her duties entail attending trade shows and health fairs and leading school tours.

If you’re lactose intolerant, what difficulties does the condition present to you?
