Google Sued For Alleged Android Phone Location Tracking

Filing a lawsuit seeking class action status, two Android phone owners are suing Google over concerns that the company is tracking users’ moves with the phones.

According to the International Business Times, the phone owners want $50 million in damages, saying Google’s privacy policy doesn’t reveal the company can track phones’ locations. The lawsuit also calls for Google to stop the location tracking.

Like iPhones, Android phones collect info about nearby cell towers and Wi-Fi networks. Apple’s system, however, transmits the data with an unencrypted identifier for the phone. Apple is already in the cross-hairs of a class action lawsuit.

If you use an Android phone, how do you feel about location tracking?
