PlayStation Network Goes Down, Sony Says It Could Take A While To Fix It

It’s been a rough month for the PlayStation Network, which buckled under attacks from hackers earlier this month, and now has gone down again for an extended period.

On the PlayStation Blog Thursday, a Sony rep said the company is working on the problem, but it could take a “day or two” to get things going again. Until then, PS3 and PSP players won’t be able to play games online, and in some cases they won’t be able to play certain games offline either, thanks to digital rights management restrictions.

The outage comes at a particularly bad time for gamers, because popular games Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat were released this week, and both have strong online components.
