Unicyclist Sues New York City To Be Allowed To Roll On Sidewalks

Believing it’s unjust that he was fined under a New York City ordinance that forbids riding two or three-wheeled vehicles on sidewalks, a unicycler is suing the city for $3 million.

The AP reports the man received a ticket in 2007 and is claiming the ticket violated his civil rights. He got the ticket dismissed in court, but wants to secure the freedom to wheel his way down city streets. Fighting the lawsuit, the city says the code is meant to protect pedestrians and says the difference between multiple-wheeled bikes and unicycles is negligible.

Sidewalk strollers, would you be OK sharing your walkways with unicyclists?
