Feds Investigating TSA Agents For Allegedly Failing To Screen Luggage

According to a federal probe, at least 27 TSA agents in Honolulu took it easy on the job, routinely letting un-screened baggage through on early-morning flights.

KITV Honolulu reports the alleged negligence went on for as long as four months. The feds suspect that TSA agents, who were required to open luggage in order to check it for explosives, just marked the never-opened bags as having been screened. The story says “thousands” of suitcases went through without being opened.

A TSA spokesman said the agency “is taking appropriate disciplinary action against several TSA officers following an extensive investigation into allegations of improper screening.”
