Pot Farmers Market Sprouts Up In Seattle

Taking advantage of Seattle’s easygoing marijuana laws, the Cannabis Farmers Market debuted in the city Sunday. The event drew 600 customers.

The Seattle Times reports the man who staged the weekly market will rotate it among Seattle and other cities, did so to provide “consistent and safe access” to medical marijuana. In Seattle, voters passed a measure in 2003 that made arresting and jailing adults for possessing small amounts of marijuana the lowest law-enforcement priority.

A police spokesman gave a Spicoli-like answer to the presence of the market.

“It’s not a big deal,” he said. “Our priorities are a reflection of community priorities.”
