What's The Best Business Movie Of All Time?

So it’s the Oscars this weekend, when Hollywood pats itself on the back for releasing a handful of movies that weren’t crappy. That started a little debate around Consumerist HQ as to what the greatest business movie of all time could possibly be.

Is it the coke-fueled “greed is good” attitude of Wall Street? Maybe you like the chest-pounding machismo of Boiler Room or the fast talking shills of Glengarry Glen Ross.

There are plenty of comedies to choose from as well. The Hudsucker Proxy and Trading Places are just two of the many films that ask what would happen if some completely unqualified fool were put in a position of huge responsibility. And don’t forget about the ladies in classics like 9 to 5 and Working Girl.

You could also consider movies about everyday life in the workplace. Anyone who has worked in a cubicle can probably relate to at least part of Office Space, just as much as those of us who’ve spent time behind counters can relate to Clerks.

And what about movies based on real-life events? The Insider tells the story of tobacco industry whistleblower Jeffrey Wigand while The Informant! is all about wannabe whistleblower Mark Whitacre’s attempt to expose price-fixing at Archer Daniels Midland. And then there’s Citizen Kane, a thinly veiled biography of media magnate William Randolph Hearst.

So yeah… that’s just a very small handful of possibilities. We want to hear your suggestions. So comment away!
