Survey: More Americans Will Blow Their Tax Refunds This Year

A retail trade industry survey finds more Americans plan to put the “fun” in “tax refund” this year.

13.2% of respondents aim to spend their refund on a big-ticket item, compared to 12.5% last year. And 11.9% will use the funds for a vacation, up from 10% last year.

CNBC reports the National Retail Federation, which commissioned the survey, hails the findings as a sign that the industry is headed back on track. But such a sentiment overlooks the fact that a much higher percentage of people (42.1%) plan to sock away their refunds, up from 40.3 percent last year.

If you’re getting a refund, what do you plan to do with it?
