Papa John's Delivery Guy Rescues Trapped Customer

We’ve written about Domino’s drivers who braved floods and scaled icy inclines all to reach a customer, but a Papa John’s driver in Michigan has topped them both by actually rescuing his customer.

Over the weekend, the Papa John’s driver in Grand Rapids arrived at a delivery address only to find that the man of the house had gotten trapped under a fallen tree branch.

“As I got there, there was a woman in the driveway talking on the phone, and she seemed frantic,” the 20-year-old tells the Grand Rapids Press. “I heard her say on the phone that her husband was stuck under a tree. She told me to put the pizza on a pick-up truck parked in the driveway.

“I asked her if there was anything I could do to help… There was a man already back there with a chainsaw – I think he was a friend – sawing the branch from the tree. She asked if I thought I could help lift the log off him once the guy had it sawed off. I said sure.”

The two men worked together to free the customer, whose leg had been fractured in the incident.

“I’m just happy I could help out,” said the driver.

No word on how much of a tip he received.
