Tuesday And Wednesday Are Best Days To Buy Airfare, Smart Guys Say

The best day to buy airfare is often Tuesday, but Wednesday also offers good deals, which are sometimes even better. How come?

Most sales kick off on Monday night and the other airlines match those prices by Tuesday morning. Rick Seaney, CEO of FareCompare.com, tells WSJ that his long-term analysis of airfare prices says that at 3pm Eastern on Tuesday is when “the maximum number of cheapest seats are in the marketplace.”

On the other hand, prices on the weekend are usually higher. In an interesting take on supply and demand, the airlines usually opt to give out their best prices when more travelers are shopping for tickets.
