After Holiday Break, Spammers Back In Action

Just about everyone phones it in during the holidays, even spammers. Whether due to tightened security or office parties, the amount of worldwide spam activity nosedived in late December. The bad news is that the spambots have reportedly woken up and are getting back to work.

Last week the BBC reported spam traffic had plummeted to 50 billion messages a day after nearing nearly four times that amount in the summer. Now research from Websense finds that spam has more than doubled since last week, rebounding close to the level it was at the week before Christmas.
