DirecTV Hints At Channel Dumping

DirecTV viewers who are angry that the provider dropped G4 may have more to complain about soon. DirecTV execs said the company is thinking about zapping its offerings with a Grocery Shrink Ray of sorts, taking a hard look at costs and looking for more unpopular channels to drop in the coming months.

The Hollywood Reporter and other news outlets relayed comments from DirecTV executives last week that revealed the service may not renew deals to carry channels that are not popular enough to merit the expense to carry them. Among those vulnerable channels that may be on the chopping block are regional sports channels.
