Kiplinger's Dubs Consumerist "Best Consumer Blog"

Kiplinger’s picked Consumerist.com as “Best Consumer Blog” for their annual “Best List” featured in the December 2010 issue. Flip to the top of page 80 and you’ll see they say we are the “always useful, frequently fun and deliciously snarky place to get the latest on a wide array of consumer issues.” Awww, shucks.

Can you share your recipe? How much sarcasm should I put in my snark?

      • SPOON - now with Forkin attitude says:

I usually add 2 parts of sarcasm to 1 part fluff but I like my sarcasm extra strong. ymmv

    • speedwell (propagandist and secular snarkist) says:

I make my own delicious snark RIGHT HERE.

  2. Mundo says:

Pfft, I make my own consumer issues at home.

  3. CreativeLinks says:

Well deserved. Keep up the great work.

  4. Loias supports harsher punishments against corporations says:

Clearly they ignored the reader comments.

    • Applekid ┬──┬ ノ( ã‚œ-゜ノ) says:

Well, “reader” is a pretty loose term, after all. I’m just here for the pictures of cats and for any excuse to post my Double Down manifesto.

    • eyesack is the boss of the DEFAMATION ZONE says:

Does anyone know if Kiplinger’s said that this site is an always useful, frequently fun and deliciously snarky place to get the latest on a wide array of consumer issues?

  5. Disoriented says:

What does this have to do with consumer safety? I don’t need to hear that the site I visit daily has been voted #1. You have to be super serious about only consumer articles.

  6. The cake is a lie! says:

I’ve known that for years! Congrats Consumerist!

  7. Daverson says:

In a field of how many?

  8. Doubts42 says:

I blame consumerist. If they didn’t want to be the best consumer blog they should have had more articles by Phil.

  9. Cheap Sniveler: Sponsored by JustAnswer.comâ„¢ says:

    Better than a Golden Poo.

Be aware, now that you’ve been recognized, you’re no longer relevant.

  10. pop top says:

In general I would say they are correct, but this site has been going downhill steadily for the past six months or so. Poorly-researched articles, useless information, old humor and Phil’s work that supposedly passes journalism is the norm for the site now.

    • Harmodios says:

Sadly, I have to agree. It’s also been getting more poltical/alarmist.

    • Cantras says:

It’s interesting to pick a month now and a month a year ago to compare. there’s things that are similar and things that… aren’t so much? :/

  11. McRib wants to know if you've been saved by the Holy Clown says:

When I Google ‘Consumer Blog’ consumerist doesn’t come up on the first three pages of results. You should sell the gold bar kiplingers gave you and buy some ads from Google.

    • Cheap Sniveler: Sponsored by JustAnswer.comâ„¢ says:

On the front page of my google results…

    • GuyGuidoEyesSteveDaveâ„¢ says:

I tried. On mine, there is a suggestion that perhaps I meant “Consumerist Blog”, and Consumerist is in the first page of results. how many results per page are you set for?

    • AK47 - Now with longer screen name! says:

They should try to sell the gold bar to Cash4Gold.

  12. GuyGuidoEyesSteveDaveâ„¢ says:

I liked it. I only wish they would have had enough room to mention all the great commenters. I also wish I had gotten their email sooner asking if they could use my photo, but by the time I read it, they went to press.

  13. mbgrabbe says:

Oooo.. Sallie Mae Bank has a 1.4% yield – Score!

  14. peebozi says:

I’m surprised my comments were not cited…must be some fancy-ass, elitist liberals running that rag!

Or, more likely, a large corporation trying to suppress the TRUTH about corporate America’s attempted/completed takeover of the the DC political class and their ability to pull the strings for every elected official in washington….

either way, I’m surprised they didn’t think adding some quotes from old peebozi would help sell more magazines!

  15. Angus99 says:

I learn something every time I come here, and that’s about the highest praise I can give. Plus I always wind up tickled by something a commenter has said, and I’m a big believer in the value of laughter to your health and life! :)

  16. Slave For Turtles says:

    Congrats, Consumerist staff and supporters!

  17. rookie says:

I apologize in advance, but, I took a wrong turn in Cleveland, now I’m lost, and I don’t know how to get out of here…

  18. catastrophegirl chooses not to fly says:

only frequently fun? not always fun? clearly it’s time for more bingo.

  19. Cyniconvention says:

Where is this dangerous toddler costume tag article? Anyway…
I’ve only been reading for about a year, but the comments always pick me up after dealing with senior douches.

  20. segfault, registered cat offender says:

It was a toss-up between either that or “best cat blog.”

  21. gman863 says:

At least the headline wasn’t (Redacted) Dubs Consumerist Best Consumer Blog.

  22. HogwartsProfessor says:

    Congrats, Consumerist!
