If you were hoping to spend millions advertising your business during the Super Bowl (which will certainly be a face-off of the ages between the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills), you are out of luck. According to Fox, they’ve already sold out all the available ad slots for the Feb. 6, 2011 event.
From the NY Times:
Comparatively, commercial time for last season’s Super Bowl, the advertising world’s biggest showcase, sold out months later. PepsiCo is putting its Pepsi brand back into the game after sitting out last year. General Motors also returns after sitting out the last two years. Fox declined to say how much ads cost.
Last year’s Super Bowl set records for the number of ads shown, with 48 minutes of airtime handed over to commercials. According to the Times, CBS charged anywhere from $2.5 million to $3 million dollars for a 30-second swatch of ad space for that event.
To get yourself psyched up for the ad-fest that will be Super Bowl XLV, here’s a montage of just the violent bits from SB XLIV:
Super Bowl Ad Slots Are Already Sold Out [NY Times]

Bleh. The ads used to be the best part. Not so much anymore.
Oh, no! How will I ever tell the world about my awesome business, Cash5Gold???
The Super Bowl will only be watching if Old Spice has purchased ad time.
I see what you did there…. We almost pulled a win off this weekend, almost.
The Bills? The same Bills that lost big-time to New England yesterday? Bwa ha ha ha!
What scoreboard are you looking at? The Bills played the Chiefs yesterday and lost with like 9 seconds left in overtime.
I’m pretty sure she means the Minnesota Bills, who lost 145 to -19.B to the New England Mugglepuffs.
Was this a Quidditch match? I didn’t realize us muggles could watch.
Oh Elizabeth. I won’t state the obvious.
Bah. Buffalo dig – we’re used to it. I’m pleased to have Dallas lumped in with US for once, though. Ha!
I am unsure why people willingly watch super bowl ads. I remember some show that was basically rebroadcasts of ads from the super bowl.
Meh. Who cares.
