They couldn’t PAY me to play Halo 3: ODST again. What a huge disappoint that poc was. I’m playing the new Reach right now and it almost makes up for ODST. Almost.

I don’t know… hearing Jayne yell “Boom! Right in his smug sense of satisfaction” made my Firefly-loving self LOL.

So I just looked into Kmart’s seemingly amazing coupon. 100$ off a clearanced tv? Surely, I’m in heaven! I’ve got very little cash, so I soon started bargain-hunting. I come across this beauty (http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_9990000095567911P) which is a 37″ 720p HDTV priced at a mindblowing 349.99. With the coupon code applied, it’s 249. There’s no question, I want this. So we proceed to checkout.

Hey now, you didn’t think it’d be that easy, did you?

It turns out that on that model, you’re forced to pay for the “Oversized Delivery” which seems to be what they equate to be ‘premium’ shipping. For the particular model I was looking at, this came out to be a $179.00 shipping fee! Even with the coupon, that was way more than I should’ve been paying for. To experiment, I looked at shipping costs for other tvs. In the case of the Mitsubishi Electronics Unisen 55″ hdtv, the oversized delivery charge was still listed…but it was free. I suspected this had more to do with the oversized tag of over $2400. But persist! Surely there’s a logical explanation.

I tried it on a more popular, average buy such as the Sony Bravia. Aha, this one was a far more reasonable $20 for shipping. They were relatively the same size as my original target was–in fact, the bravia I looked at was bigger by 3 INCHES! Sadly, it seemed that this was just not meant to be. So in one last-ditch effort, I return to the clearanced TVs page and pick a new tv. Wait a second, this seems to be the exact same model as the one I looked at before…what gives? It’s still made by Sylvania, same specs, but they were discounted to two different prices. And, go figure, this new tv also has “standard shipping” available. Sadly, the discounted price can’t touch that special figure I happened upon before.

I think Kmart just didn’t want to give a tv like that away for less than 300.00$. What a shame! Same shipping location for both products, same size, but two different shipping methods and one thoroughly unsatisfied potential customer. Looks like I won’t be upgrading from my old tube-tv OR shopping at Kmart any time soon. What a joke.

I love a good bargain hunter/researcher! I saw the extra ~$200 for shipping and tried store pickup- got nothin…all out of stock
