I think this ad was designed to simply remind everyone that Halloween is coming soon (hence the frightening Cat Lady costume) and Snickers snack size candy bars are available to hand out to all those kids who will be trick-or-treating.

This commercial isn’t scary – it’s completely fucked up. Yeah, it’s halloween related, but still, it’s just too much. And you know what? It’s not going to induce me to buy a damn thing… In fact, if Snickers does that to kids, I’m going to stay far far away from those things…
Unlike the star of Snickers’ last ad campaign, I doubt people will mount an effort on Facebook to get this chick a gig hosting Saturday Night Live.
Come to think of it, the creepy lady’s face looks a bit like Bea Aurther. Maybe Snickers was hoping lightening would strike twice with a “Golden Girls” look-alike.

I’m going to find the agency responsible and thank both them and Snickers for this day brightener. With all the horrible, lazy campaigns, those responsible for taking a risk like this deserve to be commended.
